It’s time to remember what wellness truly feels like. With the pace of modern day life in the midst of instant, real time demands and the ‘eat, sleep, work and pop a pill’ on the hamster wheel of life, many are left feeling drained and depleted. Even if you’re not ill with a chronic disease or illness concern (and the levels of people experiencing this are unsustainably and unnaturally high), many have forgotten what wellness and vitality truly feels like – to feel vibrant and have life force coursing through our veins. And this is not what life is supposed to feel like. It’s what we have normalised.
This ‘always on’ mentality which I talk about in 7 Steps to Finding Flow: Flip the Script on Stress has kept us distracted as we stay busy, using various coping mechanisms to numb our feelings and avoid our thoughts. Overthinking is another form of busyness, fed by ego desires of the accumulation of roles, possessions, titles, accolades, approval, validation and the need to control or force outcomes to align to the situational picture that we have in our heads. What we actually need is less. Less busyness, less, forcing, less doing, less stuff, and more being present and grateful for what we already have. Over-productivity has kept us from our soul’s nudges with the conditioning that rest is lazy. In a world caught up in its own momentum, life will not slow down unless we hold and make space for it to do so. Rest in all its many forms creates the pauses where our potency is found. We need a return to our own vitality – where we feel truly well, excited to hold space for ourselves to truly rest and regenerate. And we have to make time for it.
Wellness has traditionally been looked at through a lens of the physical and the chemical. Surgery to fix the symptom, pop a pill (medication or the latest silver bullet vitamin, supplement or nootropic), chiropractic’s to re-align, vitamin drips to flood our systems with unsustainable and unnatural loads on our livers. These modalities all have their value and their place, but that is only two legs on a wobbly stool. We need to look at the electrical or energetic nature of our bodies and our health to add a third leg to our wellness approach and stabilise that wobbly stool, especially as our environments and lifestyles deplete our cellular energy continuously.
Humans are electromagnetic in nature with our cells and mitochondria relying on our electrical nature, our salt and mineral balance to communicate and have energy at a cellular level, allowing our bodies to function as they need to. Our bodies have an innate wisdom and know how to heal themselves, if only we get out of the way.
